Sports Afield Publisher Buys Sports Afield Inc.
Publishers of Sports Afield magazine now own all shares of corporation, which includes the brand’s ancillary media properties.
HUNTINGTON BEACH, California – -(OutDoorWire.com)- Ludo J. Wurfbain, CEO of Field Sports Publishing and Safari Press, announced that a third company has been added to their group of book, internet, and magazine publishing businesses with the purchase of all outstanding shares of Sports Afield Incorporated.
Field Sports Publishing has been publishing Sports Afield magazine under a deal struck with Sports Afield Inc. in 2002 with then-owner Mr. Robert E. Petersen. Sports Afield Inc. had retained control of some of the brand’s ancillary media properties including the Sports Afield cable television series, radio network, product licensing and merchandising, and newspaper syndicate. Now, all of the Sports Afield properties are under the same ownership.
“We intend to continue to build upon the licensing and media properties,” says Wurfbain. “Sports Afield is one of the world’s finest brands in outdoor publishing, started by Mr. Claude King in 1887, subsequently owned by the Hearst Corporation, and then by Mr. Petersen. It has endured throughout the ages. I am honored to be heading an entity that is now well over 120 years old, a great legacy.”
