PIERRE, S.D. -(Ammoland.com)- Staff at Custer State Park have been awarded a Secretary’s Award for Drinking Water Excellence by the South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for the Game Lodge public water system.
Greg Gobel, Scott Jensen and Chad Borkowski have all worked to successfully meet the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act. The act was passed in 1974 to protect public health by protecting drinking water and other water-based resources such as lakes, creeks and groundwater.
“We cannot live without water. It is just that simple,” said DENR Secretary Steve Pirner. “With these awards, DENR salutes the best of the best drinking water systems and the operation specialists who deliver water 24 hours a day to their customers.”
Custer State Park has successfully met all the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act for the last thirteen consecutive years.
“The park is proud of our staff’s efforts and the dedication they have every day to make this possible and to make the park a safe and special place for people to visit,” said Matt Snyder, Custer State Park superintendent. “The park will continue this effort into the future.”
