WARNING: Some may find the following video disturbing.
An intense standoff last month between Tulsa police and a man holding a 2-year-old girl hostage ended when a sniper fired a single shot, killing the man.
Just days after his estranged wife filed for divorce, Salvador Reyes, 42, broke into the woman’s house and took her young daughter, who he held at gunpoint. The couple had three children together, but Reyes was not the father of the little girl he took hostage.
When Reyes broke into the house, the woman was about to escape with her other children. When police arrived on the scene, Reyes was still outside with the girl, but ran back inside at the sight of law enforcement. Meanwhile, the woman and her other children sought refuge in a police car as the standoff ensued.
After more than three hours, Reyes walked out onto a balcony with the child and that’s when Tulsa police officer Jason Lawless took action. Lawless fired a single round from a rifle, striking Reyes in the head.
Reyes was pronounced dead on the scene and the child was uninjured.
