Smith & Wesson’s M2.0 chambered in .45 ACP will soon be in the hands of consumers as the company announced Thursday that the new platform had begun shipping.
Designed for personal, sporting and professional use, the new design by Smith & Wesson promises innovative features on an entirely new platform.
The M2.0 boasts an extended stainless-steel chassis and high grip to barrel bore axis ratio, offering reduced muzzle rise and faster aim recovery. The handgun features a fine-tuned, crisper trigger that touts a lighter trigger pull with tactile, audible reset. The aggressively textured grip prevents sweaty hand slippage while four interchangeable backstraps help shooters dial in a custom fit. The polymer, striker-fired pistol will be available in either a matte black or flat dark earth finish.
“The new M&P M2.0 is one of the most advanced production pistols on the market today, and the consumer and law enforcement response to the 9mm and .40 S&W configurations has been remarkable, with several agencies currently evaluating the pistol,” said Matt Buckingham, president of the Firearms Division, in a press release. “The M&P45 M2.0 features all of the enhancements found in the popular M&P M2.0 platform, and was an essential addition to the M&P M2.0 product line.”
The .45 version will join the M2.0’s other chamberings in 9mm and .40 S&W priced at $599.
