Albuquerque, NM –-(Ammoland.com)- Please watch FateofDestinee check out the Smith & Wesson Model 500.

I believe that the Smith & Wesson Model 500 would be one of those handguns that should be selected for a new Dirty Harry movie if that franchise ever gets remade.  It would be fun to see Harry Callahan draw this monstrosity from a should holster that was being concealed by his sport coat.

However, I’m not really sure what the imprinting on this weapon would look like from behind such a coat.

I suspect it would be a lot more significant than the Smith & Wesson Model 29 chambered in .44 magnum.

The Model 500 is a hefty son-of-a-gun weighing in at approximately 72.5 oz. empty, for the eight inch barreled version. It has a five shot capacity and is double action.  Smith & Wesson says on their website that the Model 500 is the most powerful production revolver in the world today.  What I found even more fascinating is their statement that it is a “hunting handgun for any game animal walking.”

Wow!  To think that this handgun could take down large African game just dumbfounds me.  I can’t even imagine holding that much firepower with my two hands not to mention shooting it accurately!

I had the privilege once of being in a shooting lane next to a person trying out their new Model 500.  I wasn’t paying much attention to them at first as they were setting up. But, when they fired off that first round they absolutely got my full attention.

The sound and blast wave that this gun emitted was just an amazing thing to behold.  I immediately set my .22 caliber plinker pistol down on the shooting bench and just stood back to watch in awe the .50 caliber hand canon in action.

David Gonzales grew up with firearms and has many fond memories of hunting with his grandfather. He enjoys participating in the occasional shooting match, going to the gun range with his family and friends and still has much to learn about firearms. However, he became a certifiable “Gun Nut” in 2008 when he realized that the constitutional right he took for granted could so easily be taken away.
