The sister of a shooting victim in Canton, Ohio, is urging people in her community to stop the violence.
“I hope, especially for the city of Canton — just put the guns down,” Alondra Kimbrough told the Canton Repository. “I remember when people used to fist fight, not pick up guns over something silly.”
On Tuesday, federal agents arrested two men in connection with the shooting death of Alondra Kimbrough’s 22-year-old brother, Khaleel Kimbrough.
Xavier L. Hatchett, 19, and Trevonne L. Pounds, 19, were each charged with complicity to commit murder.
On Monday at approximately 5:25 p.m., police responded to reports of shots fired and found Kimbrough with a single gunshot wound in the chest. Kimbrough was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Authorities say the shooting was most likely the result of a fight and are not yet sure which defendant pulled the trigger.
While detectives continue to investigate, Alondra Kimbrough carries on the memory of her brother.
“My brother … he was a fun guy. Everyone loved him,” Alondra Kimbrough said. “He was the life of the party. He was very goofy. He always had a remark to say. Growing up, there was never a dull moment. He was my brother, but he was my best friend, too. … I talked to him every day.”
Kimbrough was the sixth person to be fatally shot in Canton in less than two weeks.
