Newington, NH -(AmmoLand.com)- SIG SAUER, Inc., has come aboard as a major sponsor of the upcoming NRA World Shooting Championships, to be held Sept. 24-26 at the Peacemaker National Training Center in Glengary, West Virginia.
Designed to challenge 300 of the world’s best competitive shooters in a variety of disciplines, the World Shooting Championship features 12 different forms of competitive shooting, from the action sports to bullseye to field-based shotgun games. The goal is simple: identify the undisputed world shooting champion.
“SIG SAUER is committed to its support of the shooting sports, across all disciplines,” said Vince Abrams, Director of Strategic Planning for SIG SAUER, Inc. “Nothing gets people as engaged in firearm ownership as competitive shooting, it’s the perfect platform for camaraderie among like-minded enthusiasts.”
SIG will sponsor or co-sponsor three stages, providing firearms, and SIG SAUER Elite Performance ammunition. In addition, SIG SAUER firearms will be featured on the match prize table.
“SIG SAUER has a long tradition in supporting competitive shooting events and the programs of the National Rifle Association,” said Executive Director of NRA General Operations, Kyle Weaver. “We appreciate their contribution to the shooting sports and we’re excited to test competitors skills, accuracy and endurance at the upcoming NRA World Shooting Championship.”
The NRA Precision Pistol stage will be shot with the 1911 MAX pistol and .45 Auto SIG Elite Performance ammunition. Also known as Bullseye Pistol, this is a slow-fire stage shot for score. With a premium on laser-like accuracy, the 1911 MAX is a natural choice with its tuned trigger and target sights. Designed with the input of World Champion action pistol shooter Max Michel, Jr., the 1911 MAX has competition in its DNA.
The NRA Bianchi Cup stage will showcase the 1911 Traditional Match Elite Stainless pistol in 9mm. Based on the “Super Bowl of the Shooting Sports,” this stage combines speed with accuracy. The crisp, single-action trigger and adjustable target sights make the 1911 Traditional Match Elite Stainless the perfect tool for this task.
As a co-sponsor of the U.S. Carbine Association (USCA) 2-Gun stage, SIG will provide P320 modular handgun systems in 9mm. This style of competition is run and gun at its finest. Speed and accuracy are now combined with lightning fast movement, stage planning, and firearm manipulation. The P320s industry-best striker trigger and exceptional ergonomics allow this pistol to fit the wide range of hand sizes and needs of the 300 competitors during the match.
“The NRA World Championships provides a unique opportunity for multiple enthusiasts to use SIG SAUER products in competition,” Abrams said. “We can collect this feedback and incorporate it into the next generation of competitive, recreational and defensive products.”
