A Mansfield, Ohio, city meeting last month ended with a gunshot and one man facing charges after he inappropriately touched a woman before assaulting two security guards.
The altercation unfolded when Michael Skidmore, who was recording the meeting on a small camera around his neck, grabbed Richland County Clerk Stacy Crall’s shoulder in an attempt to get a clear shot of her name badge. A commissioner who was present told Skidmore that his actions – primarily touching Crall – were inappropriate.
The two became involved in a verbal exchange before two security guards – Tim Norris and Chuck Kochis – entered the room and confronted Skidmore.
Then, without warning, Skidmore punched Norris in the face and repeatedly struck him in the head before a single shot was fired, which went into the wall without hitting anyone.
Kochis then attempted to wrestle Skidmore to the ground as he continued to fight back. Eventually, Skidmore was subdued, with the help of several men, but not before biting Kochis on the face.
Skidmore, who now faces a felonious assault charge, was arrested and held on a $100,000 cash bond.
Both security guards were taken to the hospital, where they were treated and released.
The incident begins around 23:30 on the video below.
