Carl Junction, MO –-(Ammoland.com)- Secure Firearm Products (SFP), manufacturers of high quality firearm cases and rifle/pistol target systems will be traveling with their team members to Phillipsburg, Germany early next month to represent the USA in the 8th annual NRA World Action Pistol Championships (8WAPC), September 12th-15th.
Three of the SFP team members have been selected to compete on the 8WAPC American Team, and include Doug Carden, Sydney Surgi and Louis Surgi.
Doug Carden is a full-time Police Officer and owner of DC Ammo, a custom reloading company in Crawfordsville, Iowa. Doug is a USPSA member, an ICORE member, the current IOWA Section Coordinator and an NRA Pistol Instructor. Carden will be competing in the Metallic Division.
Sydney Surgi has been shooting Action Pistol competitions since she was 16 years of age. At 21, this will be her first World Action Pistol Match. She will be shooting in the Open Division in the Ladies category.
Louis Surgi is the only American Junior Team member competing in the 8WAPC. Due to firearm laws in Germany, Louis will not be shooting centerfire, but will compete in the Open Rimfire Division. Louis’s rimfire experience includes placing in the top three in Ruger Rimfire World and regional matches. He recently set the Junior record for the NRA Action Pistol outdoor open sight Falling Plate Event.
The 8WAPC event will draw upwards of 300 competitive pistol shooters from around the world, including a total of 20 on the American team. The actual format for the competition is very similar to that of the NRA Bianchi Cup. For all the rules and regulations, go to http://www.nrahq.org/compete/nra-rule-books.asp and click on Action Pistol.
Each year, the host country determines how many shooters will represent each country from the various divisions (Production, Open, and Metallic). Once that has been decided, scores from the two previous Bianchi Cups are tallied to determine who receives the honor of representing the United States. Competitors can also receive an invitation to compete as part of the Ladies, Senior, or Junior team.
Event photos and results will be available after the event concludes.
