New Berlin, Wis. –-(Ammoland.com)- Hunting venomous rattlesnakes has never been high on Scott Leysath’s priority list – but as the old saying goes, ‘when in Rome…’ Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor TV for the American Sportsman, brings a unique episode of Dead Meat which gives viewers an up close perspective into the hunt for, and location of, rattlesnakes.

Leysath’s boots are on the ground in Oklahoma for the Annual Waynoka Rattlesnake Hunt where he does his fair share of catching and eating the dangerous snake. The weather also plays a factor, which leads to finding and prepping wild hogs for another meal. Watch the intense drama unfold on Dead Meat on Sunday, May 19 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT.

The population of Waynoka, Oklahoma is around one-thousand residents; however, when the Annual Rattlesnake Hunt arrives, the population swells to approximately twenty-thousand eager souls. After dealing with the unseasonable cool temperatures and harvesting several wild hogs for lunch, Leysath meets his rattlesnake guide and begin searching high and low on the high cliffs of Oklahoma. It does not take long for Leysath’s guide to locate a western diamondback. But catching and handling the snake is a whole ‘nother adventure for Leysath.

“I have to say I was a little uneasy about hunting rattlesnakes,” said Scott Leysath, host of Dead Meat. “Picking up the snake wasn’t very difficult, but my adrenaline went up another notch when I tried to place the snake into the bucket. After the hunt, we carved up the snakes and sampled them in the smoker and in the fryer. They were both pretty good, but I prefer the smoked snake over the fried version.”
