TRENTON, NJ –-(Ammoland.com)- When it comes to wildlife, there are many stories of catastrophe and destruction; often about the disappearance of species due to spreading urbanization and other human activity.
So it comes as a nice change to learn that there are exceptions — one being the famous “bald eagle”, saved at the eleventh hour from the possibility of total extinction.
Initially, Americans did little to ensure its survival; in the course of the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth, the bald eagle slowly disappeared from state after state, a victim of spreading urbanization, new farming techniques, and others threats. But awareness campaigns and corrective action gave the story of the “bald eagle” a triumphant ending.
We at the NJOA would like to have a similar story to tell about northern bobwhite quail, ruffed grouse, red-headed woodpecker, and other plants and animals native to New Jersey – and that share a similar fate due to spreading urbanization, new farming techniques, and habitat destruction.
The Forest Stewardship bill was created to improve the health of forests, reduce the risk of wildfires, and provide forest age class distribution that supports a biologically diverse suite of plants and wildlife — including northern bobwhite quail, ruffed grouse, and red-headed woodpeckers.
Save the forests, save the habitat, save the birds. Ask Governor Christie to sign the Forest Stewardship bill.
Go to the following link and add your name, etc. – then hit “send”. It’s that simple. https://tiny.cc/9ceezw
Please share this article with any interested party and ask that they send the letter to Governor Christie, too.
Thank you.
