NRA Sanctioned Shooting Event.
NASHVILLE, TN – -(AmmoLand.com)- Sabre Defence Industries, Match Sponsor for the Sabre Defence Blue Ridge Mountain 3-Gun Competition held on April 24 – 26, 2009, at the Rockcastle Shooting Center in Park Mammoth Resort, Kentucky proved a resounding success. Over 170 competitors from around the U.S. attended this NRA sanctioned competition for three days of some of the toughest shooting stages in any 3-gun competition. There were four different classes including; Open, Tactical Scope, Tactical Iron, and Heavy Metal in which participants faced ten stages of fire featuring some very tough Kentucky terrain and unique set-ups such as tunnels, swinging targets, and a Texas Star.
National Rifle Association President, John Sigler; Board Member, Bill Carter; and Mike Krei, Director of the Competitive Shooting Sports for the NRA, attended on Day Two of the event. Both Sigler and Carter greeted competitors, toured the stages and even took part in a bit of shooting. Committee members for the Committee of the Competitive Shooting Sports for Multi-Gun Competition all pitched in to honor Mike Krei and John Sigler with custom rifles in honor of the hard work of the NRA to add the Multi-Gun Competition. Committee members in attendance were Greg Coker of LaRue Tactical; John Paul of JP Enterprises; David Power of Sabre Defence; Andy Horner, the Match Director for the Blue Ridge Mountain 3-Gun; and Denise Johnson, the Match Director for the Rocky Mountain 3-Gun. The CZ US Custom Shop also presented a custom CZ pistol and FNH presented a FN Shotgun at the presentation to NRA President Sigler and Krei, to make a complete 3-gun match set.
“The National Rifle Association was proud to be the sanctioning authority for the Sabre Defence Blue Ridge Mountain 3-Gun Championship held at the Rockcastle Shooting Center from April 24-26, 2009,” NRA President John Sigler said. “The Center was the perfect venue for this unique championship. This facility has huge potential for future competitive, educational, and community events. The organizers and the sponsors of this event as well as the host venue should be proud of this great championship tournament that pitted competitive shooters from across the country against each other, the terrain and the great target selection. Every competitor to whom I spoke truly enjoyed their trip to the Rockcastle Shooting Center and all are anxious to return next year.”
At the end of Day Three, Daniel Horner, representing the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) won the 3-gun competition with a final score of 1400 points to win the Sabre Defence Blue Ridge Mountain 3-Gun Championship Title. Bruce Piatt came in second place with a score of 1129.46.
BRM3G and Sabre Defence supported the Wounded Warrior Foundation during the match and donations raised $4,080 for the foundation. Sabre Defence raffled off a Sabre rifle with all monies going towards the WWF. The winner of the Sabre rifle raffle was Ryan Ervin. Overall, the Sabre Defence Blue Ridge Mountain 3-Gun Match has found a home at the Rockcastle Shooting Center and next year promises to be even more exciting than this year.
