Remington Outdoor Foundation Supports DU’s Rescue the Duck Factory Campaign
Madison, NC – -(AmmoLand.com)- Remington Outdoor Foundation donated its second of three $250,000 installments, which when matched three to one are expected to generate $3 million in support of Ducks Unlimited’s Rescue the Duck Factory campaign. DU launched this program in 2008 to save high priority waterfowl breeding grounds in the Prairie Pothole Region.
“Because conserving wild places is an integral part of our mission to encourage more people to enjoy the outdoors, Remington Outdoor Foundation has teamed up with Ducks Unlimited in a three-year program, donating $250,000 a year to secure conservation easements from willing landowners to permanently protect critical grasslands and wetlands,” said Jim Moore, president of Remington Outdoor Foundation.
“Last year’s donation grew to more than a million dollars with the matching funds Ducks Unlimited was able to acquire as a result of our contribution. We expect similar results with this year’s program.”
DU’s Rescue the Duck Factory campaign was designed to save the highest-priority breeding grounds in the Prairie Pothole Region of North and South Dakota, an area called the Duck Factory by waterfowl biologists because nearly a third of North America’s waterfowl are produced there. The campaign’s method to achieve this goal is securing conservation easements from willing landowners by raising $40 million from individuals, foundations and corporate partners.
Since the campaign was launched, DU has purchased or optioned almost 102,000 acres of permanent easements in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
