Cody, WY -(AmmoLand.com)- The Buffalo Bill Invitational Shootout celebrates its 23rd anniversary in Cody, Wyoming, on August 11 – 13, 2016, and takes place at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s Cody Firearms Museum and the Cody Shooting Complex.
Fusing firearms history and the present-day shooting sports, the event features both individual and team competition.
Registration is limited to a maximum of 100 participants, so those interested are encouraged to register as soon as possible and may do so by downloading the registration form at centerofthewest.org/event/buffalo-bill-invitational-shootout.

The contest is a 355-target shoot in which competitors of all skill levels shoot skeet, wobble skeet, trap, wobble trap, double trap, 5-stand, and sporting clays. Any gauge shotgun may be used, and there is no class distinction. The three categories of awards are: Top Gun (top prize for high overall and ladies’ cumulative score); Top Discipline Shooter (top prize in each of the four disciplines of trap, skeet, 5-stand, sporting clays); and Top Team (squad with the highest cumulative score for all disciplines).
Registration as a competitor for the Shootout includes a welcome cocktail reception and check-in at the Center of the West on August 11 from 5 – 7 p.m. Competition begins at 9 a.m. Friday, August 12, at the Cody Shooting Complex, approximately five miles north of Cody on Highway 120. Competition continues Saturday, followed by an awards dinner that evening at the Center of the West. The public is invited to view the shooting at the Shooting Complex.
The Shootout serves up some extraordinary prizes and auction items. Proceeds benefit the interpretive programs of the Center of the West and Cody Firearms Museum.
