If you’ve ever been on the fence about becoming a firefighter, the space-age Amatoya reconnaissance and suppression vehicle will likely get you off the fence and sprinting towards a uniform.
Designer Liam Ferguson has a forward thinking vision on how to fight fires, and his concept vehicle is the culmination of those thoughts.
The militant, MRAP style tanker is reminiscent of an AH-1 Cobra gunship, where the co-pilot sits directly behind and slightly above the driver.
Built on a monococque steel body, insulated with NASA’s aerogel, and painted with “military grade sacrificial thermo ceramic intumescent paints,” the Amatoya is ready to quench flames from the depths of hell itself.
The Remotely Operated Suppression Cannon Outfit (ROSCO) can store 581 gallons of water, allowing the occupants to direct the flow from within the protection of the cabin.
To illuminate the night, the Amatoya has directional spotlights, and to help find the hotspots, a thermal camera.
By now you’ve likely stopped reading this and opened up a new page, looking for job openings as a firefighter. We don’t blame you. The Amatoya is that cool.
