BOZEMAN, Mont. – -(Ammoland.com)- Randy Newberg was lucky to be one of four hunters assigned to a 64,000-acre ranch to hunt antelope in New Mexico, well at least lucky on paper.
While the formula could produce a big buck for Newberg, he’s discovering this particular plot is notorious for hunters ending up with unfilled tags. With only three days to spot and stalk for antelope, and being only one of four hunters allowed on the ranch thanks to a recent tag draw, Newberg is excited to see what the land has to offer.
However, the first scouting trip was giving zero buck sightings and zero track marks.
“Antelope hunting is one of my favorite things to do – and New Mexico hunting makes it all the better,” said Newberg. “But the first day out I was at a loss on how to proceed. Big game hunting is all about managing expectations and by day two, I definitely had to do that.”

My goal is to educate and inform so hunters can take actions locally and nationally.”
