Authorities in Baltimore County, Maryland, are investigating after a 16-year-old student at Loch Raven High School allegedly made a threat with a gun over the weekend via social media.
On Saturday, police received an anonymous tip about the teen and a Snapchat photo of him holding a gun with the captions, “You think I’m joking” and, “You think it’s a game.” The caller provided the boy’s name to police, who then went to his home.
“Once we went, we were able to gain consent from the parents to allow us to search the home,” said police spokeswoman Sgt. Andrea Bylen. “We found two handguns, one of which matched the description of the gun we saw in the Snapchat.”
No direct threat was ever made and the gun was never taken to the school, but parents nonetheless received an automated call alerting them to the incident.
At this point, no arrests have been made and no charges filed, but the investigation is still ongoing.
