A pizza delivery man shot an armed man who attempted to rob him in Indianapolis, Indiana Feb. 22. The suspect, who was actually a teenager with a BB gun, remains in critical condition.
The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. when Michael Andrews, the delivery driver, was approached by two young men. One, 15-year-old Jacob Robinson, pulled a gun and demanded Andrews’ money and cell phone. As Andrews complied with their demands, Robinson’s accomplice took the pizzas.
RTV 6 News reports that Andrews handed over his cash and told Robinson his cell phone was in the back seat of the car. Under the pretense of retrieving his cell phone, Andrews was able to get his .40 caliber Glock from inside the car. He turned and shot Robinson twice. The second suspect dropped the pizzas and fled on foot.
Robinson was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The second suspect remains at large.
Friday’s incident is just one in a string of robberies targeting pizza delivery drivers, as the Star reports. There have been three recent robberies involving two armed suspects targeting delivery drivers in the same area of the city. There’s no word yet on if the incident are indeed linked. The Indianapolis Police are continuing their investigation.
