World War II’s hero on the home front ‘Rosie the Riveter’ got up close and personal with President Obama, and even managed to sneak in a hug from Vice President Joe Biden.
Women who worked in the shipyards during WWII, know as ‘Rosie the Riveters,’ made a significant impact on the war. They stepped up in a time of crisis and while their actions were once recognized, some of the Rosies feared their legacy may slip into the darkness. After years of requesting an audience at the White House, they finally got it, ABC reports.
One of the Rosies planted a kiss on Obama smack on the lips, and when confronted by a reporter, she said with a huge smile, “I did. That’s a Rosie for you.”
