Pat Berry Appointed Vermont’s New Fish and Wildlife Commissioner
Vermont –-(Ammoland.com)- After weeks of speculation, Pat Berry of Middlebury will be Vermont’s new fish and wildlife commissioner.
While his appointment awaits confirmation in the Legislature, it is expected Berry will sail through the process.
Berry will replace Wayne Laroche, who has held the position for eight years, the second-longest term of a fish and wildlife commissioner in the state’s history.
Most recently, Berry led Vermont Law School’s fundraising efforts, reaching out to government agencies, Vermont’s congressional delegation and foundations with great success. He previously worked in communications and development for Middlebury College and the Vermont Natural Resources Council. He also was a fly-fishing guide in Montana.
“Pat Berry and I used to be columnists together for Outdoors Magazine,” said Kyle Scanlon, now editor of Outdoors. “I have always enjoyed Pat on a social level and look forward to hearing his positions on pertinent issues like lamprey control, antler restrictions, and fish stocking. Once these are known, the sportsmen across Vermont will be in a much better position to judge the appointment.”
“Right now I would like to hear from our readers what they want to know from Pat Berry,” said Scanlon. “If you have questions for him, please email kyle@elkpublishing.com and we will do our best to make sure they are answered in a public format.”
