event…

Madison, Wis. – -(AmmoLand.com)- No one can resist a dog. And who doesn’t love a parade? Pheasants Forever has combined both into the Bird Dog Parade! The Parade will kick off Pheasants Forever’s National Pheasant Fest 2009 presented by Cabela’s. On Friday, February 6, Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk will serve as Grand Marshal and head a parade of over 25 different sporting dog breeds and their owners through the main lobby of Exhibition Hall at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin.

The Bird Dog Parade begins at 12:30 PM and is a great event for the whole family. Pheasants Forever’s loveable youth mascot Rudy the Rooster will also be taking part in the parade. The parade will conclude at the main entrance just prior to the ribbon cutting ceremony with Matt Frank, Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. National Pheasant Fest 2009 will then open its doors to the public at 1 PM, and the sporting dog breeds will lead the way as they will be announced individually on their way into the show. National Pheasant Fest 2009 runs through the weekend at Exhibition Hall at the Alliant Energy Center.

Dog breeds invited to participate in the parade include: Boykin Spaniels, Brittanys, Deutsch Langhaars, English Pointers, Springer Spaniels, Field Spaniels, German Shorthairs, German Wirehaired Pointers, Munsterlanders, Small Munsterlanders, Labrador Retrievers, Llewellin Setters, Pointing Labs, Pudel Pointers, Spinone Italianos, Viszlas, Curly Coated Retrievers, German Longhair Pointers, Wachtelhunds, Golden Retrievers, Irish Water Spaniels, English Setters, Red Setters, Weimaraners, Gordon Setters and more!

Falk will serve as Grand Marshal, escorting Rosie, an English Springer owned by Topf Wells, her Chief of Staff. Falk, Rosie, and Wells frequently hunt Wisconsin pheasants and grouse together. “Being with such a great group of dogs and owners is truly an honor and as an avid hunter, I’m so looking forward to Dane County hosting this year’s National Pheasant Fest!”

Dogs will be a major attraction of this year’s Fest. The Bird Dog Bonanza, presented by Native” performance dog foods and SportDOG Brand® electronic dog training systems, will offer presenting seminars and demonstrations on bird dog breeds, training, nutrition, and equipment. The Bird Dog Alley will also be home to more breeds of hunting dogs and organizations than you’ll find anywhere at any one time! Breed organizations will be in the Alley answering questions about their particular breeds.

National Pheasant Fest 2009 presented by Cabela’s will combine a national consumer show, habitat seminar series, and family event complete with puppies, tractors, shotguns, and art. In fact, the Fest promises to be the country’s largest event for upland hunters, sport dog owners, and wildlife habitat conservationists.

For the special price of $30, a National Pheasant Fest advance ticket package includes three-day weekend admission to National Pheasant Fest 2009 ($30 value), 1-year membership to Pheasants Forever ($30 value) which includes a subscription to the Pheasants Forever Journal of Upland Conservation (5 issues), membership card and decal, and a free Pheasants Forever hat ($16.95 value) which you can pick up at National Pheasant Fest.
