A man in Gresham, Oregon, had a newly purchased firearm for less than a day before he was robbed at gunpoint and forced to hand it over to the suspect.
William Coleman III, 21, bought a Walther P22 last week and was open carrying it, as is legal in the state of Oregon. Coleman was talking with his cousin about 2 o’clock a.m., KOIN reported, when a young man walked up and asked him for a cigarette.
The brief conversation then turned towards Coleman’s firearm.
“I like your gun. Give it to me,” the suspect said as he lifted his shirt to reveal his own gun tucked in the waistband of his pants.
Coleman handed over his newly purchased Walther and the suspect fled on foot.
The suspect is described as a thin black male in his late teens to early twenties with a small goatee and short, wavy black hair. He was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a white T-shirt and flip-flops.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Gresham Police Tips line at (503)618-2719.
