Delaware-(Ammoland.com)- Trap and skeet shooting fields at DNREC’s Ommelanden Hunter Education Training Center and Public Shooting Range in New Castle have reopened after being closed for six months to install new trap and skeet machines, the Division of Fish & Wildlife announced today.
“Though installation took longer than we anticipated due to manufacturer shortage of trap and skeet machines, these newly opened fields will provide shooters with a first-class shooting experience,” said Wildlife Program Manager Craig Rhoads. “Two trap fields have been set up to throw standard trap targets and one additional trap field is equipped to throw wobble trap targets. These three fields and both skeet fields have all received new machines. Additionally, a new double machine has been added to the current 5-stand course which will provide shooters with additional target challenges.”
Ommelanden Range is open from 12:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, and from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.Saturdays and Sundays. In addition to the shotgun sports, the range also offers a semi-enclosed 25m pistol and 50m rifle range, a 2-D and 3-D archery course and a fixed-distance archery sight-in course, which will have all new targets this spring.
