Newtown, CT -(Ammoland.com)- Veteran shooting match facility Old Fort Gun Club, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, has partnered with NSSF as the hosting range for the 2014 NSSF Rimfire Challenge World Championship, to be held October 3-5, 2014.
Old Fort Gun Club has extensive experience hosting competitive shooting events, from local and small to large and national in scope, and across a wide range of sporting practices. Past events have included Cowboy Action, ISPC, and USPSA matches, as well as 3-Gun Nation and Steel Challenge contests.
“Old Fort Gun Club’s experience running organized competition makes them a perfect fit for hosting the biggest Rimfire Challenge event of 2014,” said Zach Snow, Shooting Promotions Manager with NSSF. “In fact, Old Fort’s recent registered Rimfire Challenge event was a huge success for them, with competitors attending from 10 states. The World Championships will only be that much better, and we couldn’t be more excited about this partnership with the well-respected gun club.”
“We are definitely looking forward to hosting the Worlds,” said Bill Striplin, President of Old Fort Gun Club. “We think the layout of our shooting bays and their close proximity to one another will be a great thing for these new shooters. Our range setup helps a big match like this-which may be the first really large event for these folks-flow smoothly from stage to stage, and that really helps make a long day on the range as stress-free as possible for both the shooters and our staff. Our staff, by the way, is something else we’re really blessed with. They are friendly, courteous, and here to help. Truly, they’re what’s going to make this Rimfire Challenge World Championship the best ever.”
The NSSF Rimfire Challenge is a program of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the trade association for the firearms, ammunition, hunting, and shooting sports industry. The program was developed to introduce newcomers to competition target shooting by providing individuals and families with a safe, fun, and exciting first-time experience using .22-caliber handguns and rifles and steel targets. Formerly known as the Ruger Rimfire Challenge, the NSSF assumed administrative responsibilities for the fast-growing program in 2014, bringing on ATK, Winchester, and TandemKross as corporate sponsors.
Online competitor registration is available now for the Rimfire Challenge World Championships. Shooter participation is limited to 200, so competitors are urged to sign up now.
