The costume choice of a small town Oklahoma mayor’s husband and his friends, who dressed up as members of the Ku Klux Klan, has upset people buzzing and his wife apologizing for his actions.
Social media posts indicated the group’s get-ups came complete with burning crosses, but Cary Sharp, husband of Lahoma mayor Theresa Sharp, said they never actually burned any crosses, only lit a fire behind them for the allusion of such.
“I don’t know what else to say other than I’m sorry to the community and I’m sorry to the public,” said Theresa Sharp, adding that she was nowhere near the area when the “prank gone wrong” occurred.
Cary Sharp, however, didn’t quite echo the same sentiment as his wife.
“This is ridiculous, really,” he said. “It was a Halloween night.”
But Cary later admitted it was a “very poor decision” and apologized for the choice.
