Ohio Wildlife Agency Honored with Four National Communications Awards
COLUMBUS, OH –-(AmmoLand.com)- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife recently received four national communications awards from the Association for Conservation Information (ACI). The Division’s communication efforts were produced over the past year. More than 290 entries were submitted by state, federal, and Canadian wildlife conservation, parks and natural resource agencies for consideration in 24 different categories.
Ohio’s communication projects that received awards included the Warblers of Ohio and Eastern North America Field Guide and CD, the Buckeye Bat Cave located at the Ohio State Fairgrounds, Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry Communications Campaign and the ODNR Ohio Division of Wildlife’s Web site, wildohio.com.
“Our communication efforts are focused on meeting the needs of Ohio’s hunters, anglers and wildlife enthusiasts,” said Vicki Mountz, executive administrator for the division’s Information and Education Group. “We are thrilled to receive these national honors and will continue to strive for excellence in all of our information projects.”
The Buckeye Bat Cave located at the Ohio State Fairgrounds was recognized in first place in the exhibit and display category. Warblers of Ohio and Eastern North America Field Guide and CD, one of several Ohio wildlife field guides, earned third place in the one-time publication: book/reports category.
In the category for communications campaigns, the Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry campaign tied for second place honors. The Division of Wildlife’s Web site, wildohio.com, received second place honors in the agency Web site category.
ACI is a non-profit association of professionals representing state, federal and Canadian agencies and private conservation organizations. ACI’s membership consists of the information, education, and public affairs staffs of state, federal, and Canadian wildlife conservation, parks and natural resource agencies. Many private organizations, corporations and individuals with similar functions also belong and contribute significantly to the organization’s mission.
