Ohio Restaurant Carry Bill Has Public Hearing
Ohio –-(AmmoLand.com)- The first hearing for HB 203, the bill to allow concealed handgun licensees to carry a firearm into a restaurant that serves alcohol provided the licensee is not consuming alcohol, was held Thursday in the Public Safety and Homeland Security committee.
Ohioans For Concealed Carry Legislative Committee Coordinator Gary Witt, along with a half dozen OFCC members, was in attendance and heard the sponsor testimony by Representatives Bubp and Martin. Rep. Martin noted that 42 other states have some provision for carrying a firearm in an establishment that serves alcohol and Rep. Bubp noted that forcing a CHL holder to leave their firearm in their vehicle leaves it vulnerable to theft.
The next hearing will be proponent testimony and when it is scheduled we will post the date so those interested in supporting the bill can have their voice heard. It will likely be in December. If you’re planning on attending and don’t yet have an OFCC shirt, order yours today!
