Edgefield, SC -(AmmoLand.com)- The Iowa state chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation demonstrated its dedication to shooting sports by recently becoming a Silver Sponsor of the Iowa Scholastic Clay Target Program, Inc.

As a sponsor of the Iowa SCTP program, the NWTF will be provided booth space to promote its Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative to the more than 2,000 individuals who attend the state championship events. Also, the NWTF will be recognized in all promotional materials and media for the events.

“Individuals who are involved in competitive shooting already are supporting conservation efforts, even if they do not realize it,” said Stacey Sipe, NWTF Save the Hunt coordinator for Iowa. “All purchases of firearms and ammunition include an excise tax that helps pays for wildlife and habitat conservation projects. We also support competitive shooting because it is one of the most logical paths for someone to take up hunting.”

The 2016 SCTP calendar has events taking place beginning at the end of April, with the Collegiate Trap Championship in Ackley, and concludes at the end of June with the Skeet Championship in Waukee.

About Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt.:

The NWTF Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative is a charge that mobilizes science, fundraising and devoted volunteers to give the NWTF more energy and purpose than ever. Through this national initiative, NWTF has committed to raising $1.2 billion to conserve or enhance more than 4 million acres of essential upland wildlife habitat, recruit at least 1.5 million hunters and open access to 500,000 acres for hunting, shooting and outdoor enjoyment. Without hunters, there will be no wildlife or habitat. The NWTF is determined to Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt.

About Iowa SCTP:

Established in 2006, the Iowa Scholastic Clay Target Program, Inc. is committed to supporting organized youth, high school and colligate clay target shooting programs across the state of Iowa. As a 501(c)(3) non profit organization, the primary functions of Iowa SCTP, Inc. are to raise money and provide funding and financial support to Iowa programs and their coaches. With support provided by our sponsors, Iowa SCTP, Inc. and its volunteer board of directors has been able to provide funding and therefore more opportunities to new school-based teams, coaches and shooting athletes.

About the NWTF:

The NWTF is a nonprofit conservation organization that works daily to further its mission of conserving the wild turkey and preserving our hunting heritage. Through dynamic partnerships with state and federal wildlife agencies, the NWTF and its members have helped restore wild turkey populations across the country, improving more than 17 million acres of wildlife habitat and introducing 100,000 people to the outdoors each year. The NWTF was founded in 1973 and is headquartered in Edgefield, S.C. According to many state and federal agencies, the restoration of the wild turkey is arguably the greatest conservation success story in North America’s wildlife history.
