Colorado Springs, Colo. (Ammoland.com) – The National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) is pleased to announce the fall edition of The Tactical Edge is now available. Widely considered to be the leading authority in tactical operations information, The Tactical Edge reaches more than 50,000 law enforcement officers from more than 8,000 agencies and divisions in both digital and print throughout the United States, Canada and around the world. The Tactical Edge has been integral from NTOA’s beginning and continues to be a major benefit and prime communicator to the NTOA membership.
Members-only features include “Planning a Multi-Agency Training Exercise” by Bruce Liebe and “Active Shooter Incident Command and Control” by Joe Witty. Also featured is “Combined Arms: Using Multiple Less-Lethal Weapons Systems During Use-of-Force Encounters” by Travis Norton. The entire issue is available online to law enforcement officers who become members of the NTOA.
The NTOA has also made several articles available online to nonmembers, including “2018 Law Enforcement Operations Conference and Tradeshow Milwaukee, WI.” This article highlights the 35th Annual Conference and Tradeshow, which concluded in Sept. and saw more than 1,100 attendees from 43 states and 425 agencies. “Lessons in Leadership: Preparing to Pass the Torch – the Critical Need for Succession Planning” by Phil Hansen, discusses how as a leader there is no greater legacy and tribute to your service than to put a positive imprint on younger, upcoming personnel who are the future of your organization and how the failure to prepare potential successors for key leadership roles will likely result in loss of organizational momentum, stagnation, and at times, a significant regression. Another article available online to nonmembers is John Montenegro’s “Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department SEB Celebrates 60 Years,” where he discusses the history of SEB, its five details and how they integrate in times of crisis. Other items of interest include the Executive Director’s message and a profile of NTOA Command College student Lt. Anthony Kies of the Muscatine (IA) Police Department.
The Tactical Edge has been providing the law enforcement community with cutting edge, lifesaving information from leading experts for more than 35 years and is the winner of multiple awards, including the 2006 American In-House Design Award from Graphic Design USA and the 2013 APEX Award for Publication Excellence from Communications Concepts. It has been on the forefront of law enforcement publications, featuring lifesaving information from a legion of seasoned experts. Articles focus on current tactical and patrol topics, as well as a section on crisis negotiation. It is published quarterly in February, May, August and November.
