NRA’s Atlanta conference bigger than last year, second largest (VIDEO)

The 146th National Rifle Association’s Annual Meeting and Exhibits last week in Atlanta was the largest since 2013 and came close to breaking the organization’s record.

Announced by the NRA’s Grant Stinchfield late Tuesday, attendance at the three-day event hit 81,838.

Stinchfield called the figures “a tremendous number and proof to the mainstream media that gun ownership and love of the Second Amendment is still alive in America.”

A big draw for attendees at this year’s event, besides the over 800 exhibitors and vendors at “Freedom’s Safest Place” was a promised speech by President Donald Trump, the first sitting chief executive to address the member organization since Ronald Reagan.

Last year’s NRAAM at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville hit 80,452 while the 2015 event at Nashville’s Music City Center saw 78,865 in attendance. At the 142nd meeting at the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston, Texas in 2013, the show’s attendance stood at 86,228– the current record holder.

The even returns to Texas in 2018, scheduled for May 4-6 in Dallas.
