NRA American Hunter Magazine Names Remington Model R-15 VTR “Rifle of the Year”
Madison, NC – -(TheOutdoorWire.com)- The Model R-15 VTR Predator has received the 2009 NRA Golden Bullseye Award for “Rifle of the Year” from American Hunter magazine. The NRA Golden Bullseye Awards are an acknowledgement of the finest quality new products available in the shooting sports. These products are evaluated and are voted on by an eight-member committee consisting of editors, art staff and veteran publications staff, representing more than a century of collective experience in the firearms industry.
To qualify for consideration for an NRA Golden Bullseye Award, a product must meet the following criteria:
- Product recently introduced and widely available to consumers.
- Used/tested by a staff member or regular contributor to the magazine.
- Reliable in the field, meeting or exceeding the evaluator’s expectations.
- Innovation in design and function.
- Readily perceived as a value to the purchaser.
- Styled in a manner befitting the firearm industry and, perhaps more importantly, its enthusiasts
“We are both thrilled and honored to receive such a prestigious award,” said John Trull, Vice President Firearms Brand Management – Remington Arms Company, Inc. “Remington firmly believes that the modular repeating rifle lends itself to perhaps the broadest array of applications. Extending this uniquely American platform into the hunting arena is a logical extension and a true testimony to the versatility and adaptability of its design.”
With the hunter in mind, the R-15 VTR Predator was born of the most advanced design aspects of AR-15-style rifles available today. For peak accuracy, the R-15’s 0.680″ OD barrel is precision-crafted from ChromMoly steel and is free-floated within the machined-aluminum fore-end tube and given a recessed hunting crown for the ultimate in shot-to-shot consistency. Six longitudinal flutes forward of the gas block provide increased rigidity and weight reduction while promoting rapid barrel cooling.
Control comes naturally with the ergonomic pistol grip and lightweight overall design of the R-15. Its uppers and lowers are machined from aluminum forgings for featherweight durability, and the fore-end tube is drilled and tapped for accessory rails. The R-15 VTR Predator was designed with input from leading predator authorities and is decked in the ultra-effective Advantage MAX-1 HD camouflage to blend with sage, open country and a multitude of hunting terrains. It comes with a five-round magazine and is compatible with all aftermarket AR-15 style magazines and accessories.
The R-15 VTR Predator Rifle has a 22″ barrel with a fixed stock and pistol grip. At 7 3/4 lbs, it’s extremely stable and is a perfect choice for long range accuracy, versatility and performance.
