NRA Joins Forces With National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association
FAIRFAX, VA – -(AmmoLand.com)- NRA Competitive Shooting has entered a joint venture with the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association, or NMLRA.
The two associations will coordinate an annual muzzle loading championship that is a continuation of the NMLRA’s annual spring shoot. The joint championship is scheduled for June 13-21, 2009 in Friendship, Indiana.
“We’re combining resources with this exciting cooperative joint venture,” NRA Black Powder Program Coordinator Jessica McClain said. “It’s through this kind of development that competitive shooters win.”
Competitors can shoot for the NRA championships, the NMLRA championships, or both simultaneously.
“People who don’t shoot muzzleloaders are amazed to learn that every aspect in the shooting sports is reflected in muzzle loading,” former NMLRA President Winston Roland said. “We shoot some very serious pistol competitions, and muzzle loading bench guns and slug guns give modern guns a run for their money when it comes to accuracy.”
“This is absolutely a great opportunity for the NMLRA and the NRA to work together to promote muzzle loading,” Roland said.
Spectators are welcome, and vendors will provide goods for sale. Historic reenactments and entertainment are offered as well.
