On behalf of our six million members across the country, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) today endorsed Mike Hunter for Oklahoma attorney general.

Based on his support of and commitment to the Second Amendment, Mike Hunter has earned an “A” rating from the NRA-PVF in the June 26 Republican primary election. An “A” rating is reserved for a pro-gun lawmaker who has supported the NRA’s position on issues of importance to gun owners.

“As attorney general, Mike Hunter has fought to protect law-abiding Oklahomans’ constitutional right to self-defense, “ said Chris W. Cox, NRA-PVF chairman. “He knows that self-defense situations are difficult, if not impossible, to anticipate, and that’s why every law-abiding citizen should be able to defend themselves without the burden of unnecessary government-mandated time delays and taxes.”

Hunter supports expanding the rights of concealed carry permit holders and has called on Congress to pass national concealed carry reciprocity. This important self-defense legislation would protect the ability of Oklahomans to carry concealed when they travel out of state.

Mike Hunter also rejects expanded licensing and registration schemes and so-called “universal” background checks, which require federal government approval for transferring firearms between life-long friends and family members.

“On behalf of the NRA’s six million members, I urge all NRA members, Second Amendment supporters and sportsmen in Oklahoma to vote Mike Hunter for attorney general.”
