NPR Declaration of Independence tweets cause commotion

National Public Radio took some heat on Tuesday when its line-by-line tweets of the Declaration of Independence were mistaken for jabs at the current president, the Associated Press reported.

The public radio news organization decided to tweet out the text of  the document, one line reading “A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people,” with another reading, “and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.”

One Twitter follower called out NPR for condoning violence, then later apologized, saying, “Okay, okay…I screwed up with @npr. I jumped the gun and tweeted when I should have waited for them to finish. I offer my apologies.”

Another asked NPR to stop the tweets, adding, ”This is not the right place.”

Yet another mocked NPR journalists “with a ‘mission.’”
