North Korea threatens war on U.S. over Seth Rogan’s ‘The Interview’ (VIDEO)

North Korea has threatened to go to war with the United States over the upcoming movie “The Interview,” whose plot centers around assassinating the Dear Leader.

A North Korean foreign ministry spokesman said the release of “The Interview” would be an act of war, and promised “merciless counter-measures” if it hits box offices, BBC reports.

“Making and releasing a movie on a plot to hurt our top-level leadership is the most blatant act of terrorism and war and will absolutely not be tolerated,” the spokesman said. “If the U.S. administration allows and defends the showing of the film, a merciless counter-measure will be taken.”

The film, starring Seth Rogan and James Franco, revolves around an incompetent pair of journalists who land an interview with Kim Jong-un, prompting the CIA to recruit them into an assassination plot.

Rogen, who also had his hand in directing the movie, said, “People don’t usually wanna kill me for one of my movies until after they’ve paid 12 bucks for it.”

“The Interview” is scheduled to open in theaters Oct. 10.
