No Reset Button on Gun Control

USA –-(Ammoland.com)- There is no reset button or cancel button that will stop the flight path we’re on in this country. All we got left is to activate some sort of guidance system that can get us a controlled belly landing.

Earlier this year a local newspaper columnist wrote an article about the bill I authored to provide that employees at the Indiana statehouse could carry their firearms in the building. The bill passed the Senate, but did not get a hearing in the House. I had made the statement that it is a dangerous world and those employees have to walk several blocks to the parking garages where their cars are.

The weak minded reporter in his article made several mocking references to that statement as though my opinion was extreme.

A few weeks ago it was reported by 24/7 Wall St. that according to the FBI’s crime data Indianapolis was ranked as the 13th most dangerous city in the nation. The report cites 148 murders, 440 robberies and 753 aggravated assaults per 100,000 people in 2015. I haven’t seen any articles from this comedic reporter ridiculing the FBI report, but I guess that’s no surprise.

I do intend to introduce that same bill this session for the same reasons as this past session. It has always been the same routine; the more crime increases, the louder the foolish clamor for gun restrictions for the lawful citizens.

Recently it was reported by the IndyStar that Hoosiers who have handgun carry licenses has grown by 50 % since 2012. The report also goes on to say that in the first three months of 2016 the state has 50,000 carry licenses, which is more than half of all the licenses from 2015. It also points out that women applying for a license have increased by 90%. According to the report there were 90,000 women who had a license to carry in 2012 compared to 174,000 in the first quarter of 2016.

I just read in a copy of the National Conference of State Legislatures Publications that 4 states, Maine, Nevada, California and Washington have voter’s initiatives on guns and ammunition. If criminals don’t quit being criminals, there won’t be any lawful gun owners left that can own firearms and ammunition.
