Manahawkin, NJ –-(Ammoland.com)- The New Jersey Second Amendment Society testified before the New Jersey Assembly Law & Public Safety Committee yesterday to weigh in on Assembly Bills A588 and A1013.

A588 was opposed because it proposed to give over-reaching authority to the New Jersey Attorney General to ban ammunition, including air soft pellets, at the whim of the Attorney General.

A1013 was opposed because it hinged on the poorly defined definition of ‘defaced’ in the New Jersey code, effectively making law-abiding citizens felons when in possession of older firearms that may have rust or normal wear making their markings unreadable.

The Committee tabled A588 and amended A1013 to address the concerns raised by NJ2AS and other Second Amendment groups that testified.

“We are very pleased with the way the Committee responded to their constituents’ today.” says Frank Jack Fiamingo, President of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society, “The Committee was inundated with phone calls, email and faxes opposing these bills as well as a strong showing at the hearing in Trenton by concerned citizens – and we feel they responded appropriately.”
