Sturm, Ruger & Company introduce a new Target Model for its series of 1911 pistols, according to the company’s announcement this week.

The new Target Model is chambered for .45 ACP and features a Bomar-style, fully adjustable rear sight and an extended, ambidextrous manual safety as well as a satin-finished stainless steel and blackened controls with G-10 textured grips.

The new design includes an integral plunger tube, beaver-tail grip safety, oversized magazine release, skeletonized hammer and skeletonized aluminum trigger.

The SR1911 Target Model is also equipped with a 5-inch steel barrel putting the overall length at 8.67 inches and weighs in at 39 ounces. It ships with a an eight-round and seven-round magazine.

Ruger introduced the SR1911 series in 2011, the hundred year anniversary of the design. The new model retails for $1,019.
