Seattle, WA -(AmmoLand.com)- Outdoor Research, in collaboration with W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. (Gore), has introduced the Muzzle Brake Blouse and Muzzle Brake Pants – a new uniform concept using GORE Advanced Combat Fabric (ACF) a high strength, durably fast drying, highly air permeable fabric that meets the no melt/no drip requirement of the Department of Defense.

With more military personnel rotating through Pacific and hot climate regions, the innovative design of the two styles combined with the unique textile will assist with maintaining comfort, while offering optimal performance when exposed to the temperatures and humidity levels in these areas.

“The innovative GORE Advanced Combat Fabric allowed us to create an advanced combat uniform that dries significantly faster compared to traditional nylon/cotton blend apparel, and retains its rapid drying properties, even after use in the field and subsequent laundering,” commented Ammi Borenstein, Director of Product at Outdoor Research.

Built using Hybrid Mapped Design, the Muzzle Brake Blouse provides optimal stretch, breathability and durability, where each property is needed most, ensuring comfort and protection from the elements in hot, humid, jungle operations. Woven, double-layer GORE ACF that withstands rough terrain and abrasion, can be found on the elbows and forearms of the blouse, and on the knees and rear of the pants. Knit stretch panels at the wrists, underarms and yoke of the blouse, and crotch and back yolk of the pants permit dynamic movement.

GORE ACF features a woven construction that blends a proprietary ePTFE fiber along with Nylon and Cotton fibers resulting in a lightweight fabric that offers soft hand and drape, while delivering optimum performance in temperate, hot, and tropical conditions.

“GORE Advanced Combat Fabric is specifically designed for hot weather operations, while being suitable for temperate and tropical environments. The versatile construction offers the best combination of air permeability, fast dry time, strength-to-weight ratio, and no melt/no drip,” said Gore Product Specialist Tim Quinn. “This is certainly a very different fabric from any other product that Gore has made for the U.S. Military and tactical communities.”

GORE ACF maintains the mechanical strength (tear, break) of traditional nylon/cotton material at a reduced weight, but offers a significant decrease in water pickup compared to the standard combat uniform/BDU. As a further benefit, it will not melt or drip in flash-fire incidents. GORE ACF also includes nIR signature reduction, and it can be permethrin and antimicrobial treated, if desired.

The new Outdoor Research Muzzle Brake Blouse and Pant with GORE Advanced Combat Fabric will be showcased at The 2016 SHOT Show, January 19-22, Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV, both in the Outdoor Research booth #30406 and in the Gore booth #10370.
