New Jersey State Federation Of Sportsmen’s Clubs Three 2010 Award Winners
East Rutherford, NJ –-(Ammoland.com)- The NJ DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife is pleased to announce the New Jersey State Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs’ three 2010 award winners.
Cathy Blumig has been named the winner of the Frank Valgenti Award for her work with the Outdoor Women’s League and in particular the Becoming an Outdoor Woman Workshop that is given every year.
The award is named after the long-time sportsmen Frank Valgenti who was instrumental in the developing of the Fish and Game Council and served on that council for over a decade.
Gary Wolff, long-time treasurer and officer of the state Federation, has been named the winner of the Keith Griffiths Award. The award is named after the late Sussex County sportsman who passed away in 2008 after serving in a number of capacities in the Federation and giving most of his life to the pursuit of hunting and fishing in New Jersey.
Brian Cowden has been named the winner of the George Howard Conservation Award. Cowden is known for starting Trout in the Classroom, an extremely successful program that teaches school age children about trout and trout habitat as they raise the fish in their school. Cowden is also instrumental in the dissembling of dams along the Musconetcong River system so that fish could swim upstream to their native habitat. The award is named after George Howard, the Federation’s Conservation Director Emeritus and long-time Division of Fish and Game Director and employee.
