New Jersey Division Biologist Amanda Dey Receives Award

New Jersey – -(AmmoLand.com)- The Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey will recognize NJ DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife biologist Dr. Amanda Dey of the state’s Endangered and Nongame Species Program when it presents the fourth annual 2009 Women & Wildlife Awards on March 22.

The award recognizes the accomplishments and advances by women who demonstrate leadership and inspire those around them to protect wildlife and their habitats.

Dr. Dey’s dedication and achievement working within the Endangered and Nongame Species Program has focused on the management of songbird habitat in New Jersey which has become a model for other states. Additionally, she has been instrumental in leading the international effort to protect migratory shorebirds, including the Red Knot, which is in danger of becoming extinct.

Also being honored, with the Women & Wildlife Inspiration Award, is Jane Morton Galetto, president of Citizens United to Protect the Maurice River and its Tributaries. Until this past December she was the long-time chair of the state Endangered and Nongame Species Advisory Committee.

The Conserve Wildlife Foundation will present the awards during the 2009 Women & Wildlife Awards reception at the Prallsville Mills in Stockton, New Jersey. For more information on the awards and how to get tickets for the reception, see the CWF press release at (pdf-format).
