New Hunting Opportunities Under Consideration in Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge

Fairfax, VA -(AmmoLand.com)- A land swap with the South Florida Water Management District has given the US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) the 2,586-acre Strazzulla Tract as part of the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge.

The FWS is holding a meeting August 17th to discuss what public uses will be allowed on this tract of land. Under consideration is a small-scale hunt for deer and feral hog in coordination with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The Environmental Assessment (EA) that evaluates possible public recreational use can be found at: https://www.fws.gov/southeast/planning/EA/StrazullaPublicUseDraft.html.

Information about the meeting is as follows:

  • When: August 17th at 6:30pm
  • Where: Wellington Branch Library, 1951 Royal Fern Drive, Wellington, FL 33414.
  • The Wellington Branch Library is just west of the Wellington Mall on Forest Hill Boulevard.
