Washington, DC –-(AmmoLand.com)- CSF President Jeff Crane met last week with U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar and Under-Secretary Tom Strickland to discuss the National Park Service (NPS) ruling on use of lead based ammunition and fishing tackle in National Parks.

The Department of Interior (DOI) representatives stated that there is no consideration of extending the lead ban to private citizens and that the ban would only pertain to DOI employees who are held to a higher standard.

Jeff Crane suggested to the DOI representatives that additional consideration should be given to scientific studies that refute studies showing harmful effects of lead ammo and tackle that were used in forming the NPS policy.

Secretary Salazar reiterated his comments that the sportsmen’s community is vitally important in the formation of DOI policy and offered that the sportsmen have a seat at the DOI table.
