FAIRFAX, Va. – (Ammoland.Com) — In partnership with Pheasants Forever & Quail Forever, as well as several other key conservation partners that make up the CRP Works coalition, the National Deer Alliance (NDA) is urging deer hunters across the country to contact their federal lawmakers and express their support of the 2018 Farm Bill.

The 2018 Farm Bill notably includes and expands the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), which deer hunters fondly associate with excellent deer habitat and hunting. Additionally, the Farm Bill increases support for voluntary public access to private lands for outdoor recreation like hunting and fishing.

The National Deer Alliance outlines wild deer conservation and state and federal land management as key focus areas. The 2018 Farm Bill, and particularly its expansion of the CRP program, advances both of these focus areas. Deer across the country will benefit from significant investments in habitat quantity and quality. Even more, deer hunters will benefit from expanded access to hunt the excellent habitat that CRP provides. Further, other wildlife, such as upland birds, will greatly benefit from an increase in CRP acreage.

“Most deer hunters don’t recognize how important the Farm Bill is to healthy deer populations, and related quality hunting opportunities across the country,” said Nick Pinizzotto, NDA president and CEO. “With more than 80 percent of all hunters indicating they pursue deer, we represent the largest segment of the hunting industry and have a responsibility to advocate for a Farm Bill that benefits all wildlife.”

NDA is urging deer hunters to contact their state Representatives and Senators as one voice along with the National Deer Alliance and its numerous conservation partners in support of a strong Conservation Reserve Program as part of the 2018 Farm Bill. Over 30 million acres of excellent habitat and access depend on it. For more information, please visit the CRP Works website.
