FAIRFAX, Va. (Ammoland.Com) — The National Deer Alliance (NDA) recently recognized Jay McAninch, chairman of the NDA board of directors, with a special award at the recently held North American Deer Summit in Austin, Texas.

The board of directors wanted to recognize McAninch’s strong leadership that was integral to NDA becoming a reality, and now positioned to do important policy work on behalf of deer, hunters, wildlife agencies and industry. He was vital in the effort to form the current board of directors, which represents a diverse cross-section of the outdoor industry, and led the search for the organization’s first president and CEO.

“Jay’s leadership has played a critical role as NDA has advanced from just an idea to a bona fide organization that is now starting to show its effectiveness. He is highly motivated by NDA’s mission, and has been actively involved with our work to ensure a bright future for North America’s most coveted game animal, and largest segment of the overall hunting industry,” said Nick Pinizzotto, President and CEO of NDA.

He added, “Personally, I’ve appreciated being able to work closely with Jay over the last 18 months, benefiting from his extensive experience and long list of accomplishments in the industry.”

“I’m grateful to the National Deer Alliance for this honor,” McAninch said. “As a former deer biologist and current CEO of the Archery Trade Association, I believe wholeheartedly in the work we’re doing. The NDA is long overdue and the states, the firearms and archery industry, and the deer groups are the right advocates to safeguard the future of deer. My only hope is that many more companies and organizations that depend on deer for their livelihood will contribute to and support NDA.”
