Frankfort, KY -(AmmoLand.com)- Over 40 NASP coaches, students and staff gathered at the headquarters of the Kentucky Association of School Administrators on Monday November 9th, to discuss ways to improve the rapidly growing and successful program.

Topics discussed included, methods to increase global communication through technology, criteria to establish mission-aligned recognition opportunities, and the creation of expanded education and training modules for NASP coaches.

“The day was extremely successful, as we heard some great ideas from this enthusiastic group of NASP educators and students,” said Roy Grimes – NASP president. “They gave us ideas for improving our practices, that we had not yet considered. These discussions were intended to simply add “voice” from those that are part of the day-to-day NASP experience. It was obvious from the comments of today’s participants, that they have just as much “passion” for the positive attributes of NASP as anyone!”

“When you consider the fact that we are growing at a rate of about 1000 schools a year, listening to the “experts” in the field seemed like a great idea,” said Dr. Tommy Floyd – NASP Vice President. “Getting a better grasp of how to reach more schools, and improve the overall experience for NASP students, was our primary goal, and that is exactly the type of insights that today’s participants provided.”

The meeting was intended to further strengthen and increase the spread of the rapidly growing and successful program. NASP is now involved in over 14,000 schools in 47 states and 11 jurisdictions. Last year’s National tournament involved 12,045 archers and was the largest archery tournament ever held. However, with only 10-15% of NASP participants competing in tournaments, most of the day’s agenda was aimed at improving the “experience” for everyone. The goal was to use all feedback to provide more accurate information and better training opportunities on in-school archery for anyone wanting to learn more about NASP.
