Tallahassee, Florida –-(AmmoLand.com)- Marion P. Hammer has an outstanding history of service to the NRA and of protecting Second Amendment rights. Ms. Hammer is up for re-election to the NRA Board.
Marion Hammer is a Past President of the National Rifle Association. In 1995, she became the first woman President in the Association’s 125 year history. She lead NRA through some of it’s darkest days — protecting the NRA from those who would tear it down from within and helping hold the line against anti-gun US President Bill Clinton.
Among her many awards, she received the National Safety Council’s “Outstanding Community Service Award for 1993” for creating NRA’s Eddie Eagle gun safety program for children. The program has now been taught to 22 million children.
She was also a key developer and promoter of other programs to include the NRA’s Youth Hunter Education Challenge, Youth Education Summit and the Refuse to be a Victim.
She was the key in the funding raising and was the motivation behind the construction of the National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, Virginia to preserve America’s heritage for future generation. At her insistence, construction of the museum began when she became president and she cut the ribbon opening the museum before she left office.
Today, she is a legislative lobbyist who is responsible for Florida’s pro-gun lobbying effort. Marion is a staunch defender/protector of the right to keep and bear arms. She is a legendary pro-gun leader who is also an author, community volunteer, public speaker, safety instructor, and media spokesperson for the Second Amendment rights of all law-abiding Americans.
Her accomplishments are many. Under Marion Hammer’s leadership, Florida has been on the front line leading the fight to protect the rights of target shooters, recreational shooters, hunters, collectors and citizens who own firearms for home and self-defense.
Her legislative accomplishments include killing restrictive anti-gun measures and passing pro-gun legislation including:
- Right to Carry National Model Legislation;
- Firearms Preemption;
- Concealed Carry Reciprocity;
- Hunter Protection;
- Shooting Range Closure Protection;
- Gun Manufacturer Lawsuit Protection;

- No-Net-Loss of Hunting Lands;
- Hunter Voter Registration;
- Right to Carry in National Forests;
- No Confiscation of firearms during a state of emergency;
- Privacy for Concealed Weapons license holders;
- Guns In Vehicles in Parking Lots Protection and more
She was inducted into Florida’s Women’s Hall of Fame in 2005. Her awards and accomplishments are many and she continues to serve gun owners with dedication and passion.
