Columbia, MO –-(Ammoland.com)- The Association of College Unions International (ACUI), a nonprofit educational organization founded in 1914, has awarded $134,000 to fourteen different college shotgun programs.

Contribution amounts were determined by each school’s overall performance in the 44th Annual ACUI Intercollegiate Clay Target Championships held March 27 – April 1 in San Antonio, Texas.

The ACUI Clay Target Championships program has provided a meaningful experience for students for over 40 years, playing an essential role in the development and enhancement of various personal and professional skill-sets.

“ACUI is proud to host events where skills, sportsmanship, and community can be displayed, and SST has a direct influence on getting teams to participate so this can be an achievable goal.” said Michelle Smith, Match Director ACUI Clay Target Championships. “The generosity of the Potterfields and the creation of Scholastic Shooting Trust Fund has been a welcome addition in growing youth shotgun sports activities.”

Scholastic Shooting Trust Fund is owned and controlled by the MidwayUSA Foundation, Inc., a not-for-profit, charitable organization established by Larry and Brenda Potterfield in 2007. The Potterfields began the Foundation as a result of their passion and interest in education for shooting, hunting, firearms safety and outdoor skills.

“Competitive shooting teams provide wonderful opportunities for students to make friends, to develop confidence, and learn discipline and leadership skills.” said Larry Potterfield, Founder and CEO, MidwayUSA. “Brenda and I are elated to see ACUI participate in the MidwayUSA Foundation, Inc. and greatly appreciate their dedication to growing shotgun sports at colleges and universities across the country.”
