Mexican Gun Scandal – BATFE and USDOJ Caught with Blood on Their Hands
Virginia –-(Ammoland.com)- In a recent report by CBS News, Federal agent John Dodson blew the whistle on the “Fast and Furious” operation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) under approval from the US Department of Justice (USDOJ).
This operation was undertaken in an effort to track firearms sales and shipments into Mexico in order to bring down a “Major drug cartel”. Unfortunately, not only did the operation directly influence an increase in gun-related crimes in Mexico (including many deaths), but it has now also resulted in the death of US Federal agent Brian Terry in Arizona.
Additionally, from the “Gun Control” perspective, these illegal sales and subsequent tracking of guns in Mexico to US dealers has been used to influence public opinion about the “Gun Show Loophole” and the need for stricter gun control within our own borders.
This tactic by the Left, used in an attempt to further their anti-gun agenda, is appalling. You wonder why Obama has been so quiet about gun control since he became the president? It’s because this operation has been quietly running in the background. He and his fellow Democrats were waiting for the opportunity to use the data provided by Operation Fast and Furious to curtail our rights here in the US.
“A growing wave of criminal violence in Mexico’s border communities and in the interior of the country, fueled by the availability of guns and currency smuggled south from the U.S., poses a serious threat to Mexico’s security,” Napolitano said, “and portends deepening problems for our nation’s border regions.” cite
I have sent emails to both of my senators (Webb and Warner) as well as my representative in the House, urging that they assist with determining who approved this operation and bring them to justice. These people clearly have blood on their hands by allowing over 1,700 guns to be intentionally sold through “Straw purchases” for shipment to Mexico.
Please join me by contacting your representatives in Washington to demand that those who approved this operation be brought to justice.

Here’s the letter that I sent. Feel free to use all or part of it!

Subj: BATFE, USDOJ and Guns in Mexico
Senator,
I am appalled by the recent reports concerning the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) *intentionally allowing* firearms sales to Mexican drug runners. This was apparently done with approval from the US Department of Justice (USDOJ).
The program was called “Fast and Furious”, and agents were allowing sales to known drug cartel hoodlums in an effort to “track the guns and bring down a major drug cartel”.
Now one of these “Fast and Furious” guns has been used to kill a federal agent with boots on the ground in Arizona. The people who approved this plan now have blood on their hands.
“Fast and Furious” was also being used to incense public opinion about firearm ownership in the United States by making claims that thousands of guns in Mexico were being traced back to purchases made in the US. Clearly, those purchases should not have been allowed under current federal law.
I am embarrassed by the corruption that is occurring within our government, and I ask that you stand and help flush out the people in our system who helped come up with this hair-brained scheme.
Respectfully,
YOUR NAME
