Kent is running for National Wild Turkey Federation’s 2019 board of directors. Please consider including him in your vote.
USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- My name is Kent Danjanovich, and my wife, Sherie and I live in the small town of Santa Clara in the southwest corner of southern Utah.
The great outdoors is essential to all of us. Even for those that do not choose to hunt and fish, the opportunities that lay themselves out before each of us are indeed a blessing. And for those that do decide to partake of the harvesting side of things, well, it is even more special and important.
I have been involved in the outdoors all of my life. The fond memories that my childhood captured with my dad and brothers in the field and on the water have indeed molded my life, and now more than 50 years later, I am lucky to be part of the outdoor industry as co-owner of the Sportsman’s News, which as you know is the official monthly publication of Sportsman’s Warehouse.
Ten years ago, I was on assignment in Alaska at a fishing lodge. As fate would have it, I just happened to be paired up with Jon Leonard, the then president of the Utah Chapter of the NWTF, on a few adventures that week. By the end of the trip, a new chapter had been created for the southern part of Utah!
Now when it all began, I will have to admit I didn’t know what I was in for. I had been a supporter of just about every outdoor conservation group in the state, and I am for the most part still to this date. But, it didn’t take me long to figure out the National Wild Turkey Federation ( NWTF ) was the group I wanted to work with. I found that this organization was truly at the top of the list for looking out for all of our hunting heritage and preservation of its resources.
Today, the efforts that our organization puts forth are even more important. With ever-growing populations throughout the country, encroaching into critical wildlife habitat, those efforts that we make to continue the outdoor heritage we all love and embrace are critical not only for present day but for generations to come.
I am not really a campaigner, but in this case, the cause is a worthy one, and I would very much appreciate your support. With the great success out west in enhancement and preservation of wild turkeys and other wildlife species, a voice from the west will greatly benefit the cause, as this opportunity doesn’t present itself very often
Thanks for listening, and I hope to be representing you and all of the wonderful outdoors men and women throughout the country when this process is complete.
Sincerely,
Kent Danjanovich
About the National Wild Turkey Federation
When the National Wild Turkey Federation was founded in 1973, there were about 1.3 million wild turkeys in North America. After decades of work, that number hit a historic high of almost 7 million turkeys. To succeed, the NWTF stood behind science-based conservation and hunters’ rights. The NWTF Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative is a charge that mobilizes science, fundraising and devoted volunteers to raise $1.2 billion to conserve and enhance more than 4 million acres of essential wildlife habitat, recruit at least 1.5 million hunters and open access to 500,000 acres for hunting.
